Job Summary: The Gynaecologist is responsible for providing comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care to women, including antenatal, natal, and postnatal services, management of normal and complicated deliveries, and treatment of reproductive health conditions, and performing gynaecological procedures according to the facility level. The role also includes ensuring quality maternal and newborn care services, supervising clinical staff, and maintaining proper clinical documentation according to standard protocols.
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent Gynaecologist based at RHC Shagram, Upper-Chitral in Chitral Region.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care to patients.
- Conduct antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal examinations and follow-ups.
- Manage normal and complicated deliveries, including emergency obstetric care.
- Perform obstetric and gynaecological procedures as per qualification and facility capacity.
- Diagnose and manage gynaecological disorders and reproductive health conditions.
- Manage high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies.
- Conduct and interpret ultrasound examinations (where applicable).
- Provide family planning counselling and services.
- Ensure infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols are followed.
- Refer complicated cases to higher-level facilities when required.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain proper patient records, registers, and reports.
- Ensure availability and rational use of medicines and medical supplies.
- Supervise labour room and maternity services.
- Participate in hospital management meetings as required.
- Ensure implementation of standard clinical protocols and guidelines.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide WMOs, staff nurses, LHVs, and midwives.
- Support capacity building and on-job training of maternity staff.
- Monitor staff performance and maintain discipline within the department.
Quality Assurance & Patient Safety
- Ensure adherence to clinical standards and patient safety protocols.
- Participate in maternal and perinatal death reviews.
- Ensure proper sterilization and infection control practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in patient care.
Coordination & Reporting:
- Coordinate with PMO and other departments.
- Prepare and submit monthly service reports.
- Support implementation of maternal and child health programs.
- Participate in outreach and awareness activities when required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- MBBS, FCPS, or FCPS Training completed/ MCPS / MS / Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from a recognized institution with valid PMDC registration.
- Candidates having post-qualification experience will be preferred.
- Possesses basic clinical certifications such as an ultrasound, BLS/ACLS.
