Job Summary: The Laboratory Technician collects, handles and analyses clinical samples, maintains laboratory equipment, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards, manages consumables and applies established procedures and quality control protocols to support accurate diagnostic and research outcomes and the efficient, safe operation of laboratory services.
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent Laboratory Technician based at Brep BHC-Chitral, in Chitral Region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects, labels, and stores samples securely to maintain specimen integrity, traceability, and safety.
- Conducts laboratory tests and analyses as required to support medical diagnosis and related activities.
- Performs laboratory procedures in accordance with physician instructions, SOPs, and established protocols.
- Records, documents, and reports test results accurately, promptly highlighting abnormal findings to the supervising laboratory physician.
- Performs daily Internal Quality Control (IQC), monitors control results, identifies deviations, and maintains complete IQC records.
- Prepares and submits monthly inventories of reagents, consumables, and supplies to administration.
- Organizes, stores, and retains samples in compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Adheres to laboratory safety protocols, including the consistent and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Cleans, maintains, and ensures the proper functioning of laboratory equipment.
- Conducts regular equipment calibration, quality control, and verification to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Maintains comprehensive equipment records, maintenance logs, and daily laboratory work documentation.
- Ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory materials in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Participates in training sessions, competency assessments, and continuous professional development activities.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum Two years diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized Institution
- Minimum 2 years of relevant Experience, preferably within healthcare systems or large service organizations.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Understanding of electronic and computerized equipment in laboratories.
- Results-driven, ethical and adaptable professional with a strong service and stakeholder focus.
- Strong integrity with the sensitivity to manage confidential information.
- Demonstrates superior organizational skills and the agility to multitask and assume changing strategic responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Possesses strong integrity, intellectual humility and demonstrable expertise in navigating ambiguity and constant change.
- Shows resilience, flexibility and perseverance, especially during challenging periods.
